This form allows you to automatically search the '[National Center for Biotechnology Information]' [Entrez] databases for all pair-wise combinations from a specified list, e.g. for the list "AP-2", "FGR" and "GATA-3" the following search terms are tried: "AP-2 AND FGR", "AP-2 AND GATA-3", "FGR AND GATA-3". Results consist of a count of the number of documents returned by each search.
This form uses the 'ESearch Entrez Utility' to perform its searches. The protocol for using this facility requests that when bulk searches are submitted by an automated tool (as this form does), a gap of three seconds is left between each search. As a result, this process will be slow for anything other than a short list of terms (e.g. a search for all pair-wise combinations of 100 terms will take 4950 * 3 = 14850 seconds, or around 4 hours). To minimise the impact of this time delay on you, this process will run 'in the background' after you submit your search request and the results will be e-mailed to the address you specify (N.B. the e-mail address supplied is discarded immediately and no record of it is retained).
The 'ESearch Entrez Utility' protocol has one other request - that all automated searching happens between the hours of 21:00 and 05:00 EST so as to minimise the impact on 'daytime' users. In order to comply, the 'background process' initiated by this form only runs during those hours. As such, it may take anywhere up to 48 hours to complete your search. Please be patient.
